We are one of three parishes, the other two being Lymington and Lyndhurst, who all share the same Parish Priest, Father Jamie McGrath. We have our own Parish Pastoral Council of 9 lay people, that meets approximately once each month, over which Fr. Jamie presides. Three members retire each year to be replaced by three new members, who are elected each March at the AGM. Every PPC member serves for three years and, ideally would not serve again for at least two years thereafter. The Social Committee, while not part of the PPC, reports to it and leads the way in enhancing the social life of the parish. The Finance Committee, which is entirely independent of the PPC, looks after the parish finances and the fabric of the church property. A Liturgy Group explores the parish's liturgical needs both around the fabric and furnishings of the church as well as appropriate Services of Prayer. This group reports to the PPC. There is also a group of Lay Ministers of Communion, who come together with some regularity. Their tasks are to assist in the distribution of the communion during Mass and take Holy Communion to the sick as requested by the Parish Priest or Deacon. We have a Care Group who will visit any parishioner who needs them, either simply fulfilling a listening role, or to supply more practical help when it is needed. In relation to the three parishes, there is a 'Link Group', which consists of three PPC members from each of the parishes. This aims to bring us all together occasionally for either liturgical or social events. Week by week activities or events will always be found in the Newssheet, copies of which will be found at the back of the church, which is almost always open during daylight hours. All further enquiries will be answered by the shared Parish Office at Lymington. Telephone: 01590 676696 |
